A Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Education Dr Zaw Myint and comprising 12 representatives from various ministries arrived in Mangshi, the capital of Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, the People’s Republic of China, on 21 October to attend the Sixth High-Level China-Myanmar Scholars’ Dialogue.
In the afternoon, the delegation met Mr Wang Yunfei, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and discussed matters of mutual interest. Afterwards, they attended a welcome dinner hosted in honour of the participants and enjoyed China-Myanmar cultural exchange performances presented at the event.
The delegation then attended the signing ceremony of ten Memoranda of Understanding on China-Myanmar cooperation.
Afterwards, they attended the speeches delivered by representatives from both countries and later participated in the China-Myanmar Education and Sports Cooperation Dialogue held in the afternoon.
On 23 October, the Deputy Minister and the delegation visited the Shwedagon Pagoda replica in Mangshi, before proceeding to the Dehong Vocational College, where they observed the college sports ground and inspected programmes in medical science, e-commerce, and automobile maintenance. Officials from the college provided detailed explanations during the visit.
The delegation continued their programme with a visit to No 1 Basic Education Primary School in Mangshi, where they observed primary schoolchildren participating in classroom learning activities. They also watched and encouraged the children practising sports in the gymnasium and on the artificial turf sports field.
Afterwards, they visited Dehong Normal University, where the rector and responsible officials gave an explanation about the university with the aid of a scale model. The delegation also toured the university’s historical museum.
The Myanmar delegation further observed lectures and training sessions at the university’s Department of Culture, Department of Bio-Science, and Department of AI Technology. The delegation returned to Myanmar by air on the evening of 23 October.
