Union Minister for Defence General Maung Maung Aye, who is also chairman of the Employment Management Committee on Former Military Personnel, presided over the second coordination meeting of the committee at the Ministry of Defence yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union minister highlighted the intention of the formation of the management committee, and also the formation of five working committees to implement the eight objectives of the committee.

He continued that according to the objectives of the committee, industrial and technical training will be provided to the permanent military personnel and people’s military servants at the vocational schools, and the Certificate of Recognition will be granted to those who complete the training. Depending on the types of vocational course, the certificates will be recognized by government departments, companies, and private enterprises to facilitate job placement. The Ministry of Labour will issue domestic labour cards to permanent service personnel and people’s military servants, and Overseas Worker Identification Cards (OWIC) for those seeking employment abroad. The committee will also cooperate with the Ministry of Labour to connect with agencies to help provide employment opportunities. For the people’s military servants who have completed their service, arrangements will also be made for them to return to their original workplaces or positions at the government departments, companies, private businesses, or organizations where they worked before serving.

The attendees coordinated the discussion, and the Union minister concluded the meeting.
