Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Chairman of the Working Committee on Information and Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community, visited yesterday the disaster-affected villages of Magyeepin and Nyaungpintha in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw, accompanied by committee members and departmental officials, to inspect the progress of activities aimed at building a resilient and strong social community and to address the needs of the local people.

First, the Union minister and his party paid homage to the abbot of Magyeepin-Nyaungpintha Monastery, presenting Buddha images, donation items, and cash before meeting local residents of Magyeepin and Nyaungpintha villages.

During the meeting with locals, the Union minister stated that he will work with departments to implement preventive measures to avoid further flooding in villages and urged people not to lose hope despite their difficulties, encouraging them to strive for a better society.

He added that the State is investing in shaping Magyepin and Nyaungpintha villages model villages after natural disasters by supporting information and activities to build a resilient and strong social community, emphasizing that success depends on the local people being strong-minded and working together in unity to improve their own lives.

He urged people to vote as a civic duty in the upcoming multiparty democratic general election, emphasizing that they should choose candidates who can contribute to the development of their communities, and added that entertainment programmes will be organized to boost local morale.

Afterwards, the Union minister and his team visited Nyaungpintha village to review livestock farming activities aimed at achieving self-sufficiency in the meat sector and to inspect houses built for flood-affected residents. He also checked the progress of the Nawin Creek embankment maintenance project, assessed the living conditions of households, including access to food, drinking water, and electricity, coordinated local needs, and provided financial assistance to the residents.
