Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn presided over a meeting with the Myanmar Press Council regarding election-related information release in Yangon yesterday.
The Union minister highlighted the visit of the Head of State to China, in which some world leaders approved the coming election and pledged to send observers. Meanwhile, all should work hard in media ways, and the government also arranges for the people to cast their votes secretly. The journalists should also spread true information to rural people, especially to the youth, in order to guide them on the path to development and help those going the wrong way to find the right direction.
The participants coordinated the discussion, and the Union minister concluded the meeting.
At noon, the Union minister, accompanied by the Myanmar Motion Pictures Organization chairman, inspected the preservation of ancient films with digital technology at the Film Promotion Division of IPRD. During the inspection, the Union minister discussed the proper preservation method of the ancient, training and maintenance for the former film archive building.
The film archive building was constructed in 1925 and is now 100 years old. The filming, production, censorship, and reviewing processes for the Academy Awards were conducted in that building. Once maintenance is completed, training courses and sessions for the development of the film industry will be conducted.
