Senior General Min Aung Hlaing underlined that only with a good human resource base can a systematic economy be developed; therefore, efforts must be made to cultivate well-educated and capable human resources.

Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, yesterday morning met departmental officials and town elders at Pearl Yadana Hall in Myeik, Taninthayi Region, to talk about regional development undertakings.

In his address, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar emphasized regional development undertakings, saying that the best efforts would be made to carry it out regarding the project to construct an international fish auction market in Myeik, which was included in the presentations.

He added that the export of marine products must be conducted properly and in line with set regulations. If cold storage containers are used for exports, operations would become more efficient.

The Senior General unveiled his plan that the Myeik airport will be upgraded to facilitate air transport for exports. Efforts are also being made to produce shrimp feed domestically.

In establishing shrimp ponds, he stressed that the construction of shrimp ponds must be carried out systematically with proper research.

He guided that efforts are needed to raise both the economic and social standards of the region and the nation. People desire political stability and economic growth, and wish to engage in economic activities with peace of mind and tranquillity.

The Senior General retold that Tatmadaw has agreed to ensure that the multiparty democratic system, which the people aspire to, can continue to advance steadily and correctly. In a democratic system, general elections are fundamental.

In a democratic system, he noted that general elections are important because they help form a relevant Hluttaw. Through the Hluttaw, the President, Vice-President, administrative bodies, and Union-level organizations appointed by the President can be assigned responsibilities, and government bodies can be given their duties.

Therefore, he highlighted that it is essential that elections are conducted in accordance with the law and held properly. Preparations are currently underway to ensure that elections can be held in the near future. In carrying out these preparations, efforts will be made to ensure that the elections are credible and successful.

The Senior General underlined that the government focuses on promoting rural economic development and will continue to work on improving the social and economic well-being of rural communities.

In order to increase the number of educated young people for the future, the Senior General recounted that he consulted with the Union Ministers for Education and for Science and Technology to establish Polytechnic universities, planning to continue establishing more. Similarly, regarding agriculture and livestock, upper-level industrial agriculture and livestock schools have been opened for those who have completed basic and secondary education, enabling them to attend. Only with a good human resource base can a systematic economy be developed; therefore, efforts must be made to cultivate well-educated and capable human resources.

He underscored that it is necessary to work towards increasing the production of promising products. Although there are favourable opportunities provided by water, land, and nature for producing goods in the country, it is still necessary to put in the effort to make use of them.

Using rubber’s raw materials, he guided that Taninthayi Region has to manufacture rubber products to meet domestic demand. Similarly, regarding the widely cultivated coconuts in the region, it is also possible to produce high-value products for the market, and efforts are encouraged to pursue this.

The Senior General spotted that providing quality education is an investment for the future, and education must be systematically promoted to ensure a secure future for the nation. It is necessary to focus on nurturing well-educated human resources who will lead the country in the years to come.

In conclusion, he stressed that when casting votes, the candidates they choose should be genuinely capable of serving the nation’s interests, truly upholding and implementing the democratic system, responsibly safeguarding and protecting their duties, and being able to work effectively for the betterment of the country.

At the meeting, the Myeik District Administrator reported on regional data, operation of agriculture and livestock farms, rice, livestock and fish security, efforts to successfully producing fish, prawn and marine products, running of MSME industries, educational and health data and fulfillment, supply of electricity and water, establishment of the fish auction market and industrial zone, and raising public awareness to successfully hold the multiparty democratic general election.

Town elders and official of organizations presented their reports on needs to apply implementation of the Myeik fish auction market and industrial zone projects through BOO system, upgrade of Myeik Airport to admit foreign cargo flights, difficulties to produce finished goods of marine products from Taninthayi Region and export them abroad, swift export of Myeik’s seawater fish, aid of the State to provide fry shrimps and aquafeeds for ensuring an easy import process to boom seawater shrimp businesses, import of necessary parts for the tubeless tyre factory to produce import-substitute rubber products in Taninthayi Region, and requirements for regional development.

Union Ministers and deputy ministers discussed verifying and allowing livestock and fishery products of Taninthayi Region under the procedures for export without delay, allowing prawn farms under disciplines, needs of fishing trawlers to follow relevant laws and disciplines, establishment of industrial, agriculture and livestock basic education high schools to turn out necessary human resources to operate the MSME businesses and agriculture and livestock farms successfully, practical works of students, and a plan to upgrade Myeik Airport. The Regional Chief Minister added discussions on the supply of water and electricity.

Also, present at the meeting were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Union Ministers U Min Naing and Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Coastal Region Command, deputy ministers and officials.

The Senior General visited the booths of MSME products from Myeik District and discussed some topics.

He inspected the Myoma Sports Ground in Myeik and gave guidance to officials to upgrade the sports ground.

At Myeik Airport, the Senior General heard reports on efforts to upgrade the airport and the runway by the Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications.

The Senior General gave guidance on the upgrade of the runway and renovation of the airport lounge under a systematic calculation.

On the evening of 18 September, the Senior General, his wife and party paid homage to Laykyun Hsimee Pagoda and offered flowers, water and oil lights.

He gave instructions to officials on efforts to be made to ensure the long-term existence of the 240-year-old ancient Thamok ordination hall. They donated cash to the fund of the pagoda.

The Senior General visited downtown Myeik and along the Strand Road by car.
