Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Commission Secretary, and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Magway Region Chief Minister, the commander of Central Command and officials, met departmental officials at the hall of Aunglan District General Administrator’s office in Aunglan to discuss regional development activities.
The Aunglan District Administrator reported on agricultural and livestock activities in the region, rice sufficiency, growing of trees to green the district, efforts to improve education and health sectors, preparations to successfully hold the election, and the need to upgrade Aunglan Township Hospital.
In his response, the Senior General stressed the need for all to cooperate in the security, peace and stability of the Aunglan region. He pledged to upgrade Aunglan Township Hospital in accordance with the relevant criteria. He urged all to systematically maintain the town hall of Aunglan and instructed officials to supervise measures to keep the town clean and tidy.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said that in Magway Region, efforts are being made to convert croplands into farmlands for agriculture. Due to not meeting crop yield targets, Aunglan District has been losing about K465 billion in annual income.
He highlighted that, as cotton is being cultivated in Aunglan District, it is necessary to establish cotton-related industries beginning at the basic level. Improving agriculture and livestock businesses in the region will greatly contribute to local economic growth.
He guided that the Aunglan District can implement solar power generation projects to fulfil the needs of electricity.
The Senior General stressed that since animal feed can be produced from agricultural by-products, it is possible to use such feed to raise chickens, pigs, goats, and cattle, which will better support the local food security.
In Aunglan District, he emphasized that school attendance rates are satisfactory, and efforts should continue to ensure smooth transition rates for students.
Since assuming state duties, he recounted that he has been giving guidance to plant two acres of firewood plantation in each village, and tree planting along roadsides is also being carried out to create greener and healthier surroundings.
The Senior General underscored that not only residents but also authorities are responsible for regional development. Therefore, development activities must be implemented in townships and districts as much as possible.
He noted that as the Aunglan District already has strong foundations, all stakeholders are urged to work together for the development of the region.
After the meeting, the Senior General and party inspected raising layers at Shwe Tint Wan livestock zone in Aunglan.
He gave guidance to systematically operate livestock activities, grow windbreaks in the livestock zone and carry out cleaning tasks.
The Senior General inspected progress in upgrading the highway bus terminal in Aunglan and gave guidance to officials to supervise systematic parking of vehicles, grow shady windbreak trees systematically, and establish a small forest around the terminal to contribute to the greening of the environment.
