The Working Committee on the Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community organized its third coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Speaking at the meeting, Union Minister for Ministry 2 at the Office of the State Administration Council Chairman U Ko Ko Hlaing, who is also Chairman of the working committee, highlighted the inspection tours to Mandalay and Sagaing, and three work plans to be conducted in Mandalay Region as the second phase.

He added that the pilot projects will be implemented in flood-hit Moehti, Moemi in Yamethin Township, Chaungphya and Thabyaybin villages in Wahphyutaung region.

The continued discussions were made to establish a weaving zone or a weaving village for the quake-affected weaving entrepreneurs and to attract investment. For the mid-term project, the public awareness programmes and public services of the government will be conducted in 489 villages of 15 townships that are within five kilometres of the fault. Moreover, the measures to conduct training for human resource development and reduce impacts on natural disasters by cooperating with the government and social welfare organizations at the KBZ Centre.

As another pilot project in Sagaing, over 25,000 quake survivors will be relocated to Ywahtaung, and proper measures will be taken to ensure their incomes.

Moreover, four sectors will be implemented in the pilot project of Nay Pyi Taw, aiming to ensure the safety and peaceful improvement of the affected people, increase their income, develop the ability of their human resources and strengthen cooperation and unity within their community.

Deputy Minister U Myint Soe, who is secretary of the working committee, and participants coordinated the discussion regarding the reconstruction and all-around development projects in Nyaungpintha and Magyibin villages.
