CHAIRMAN of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein received Norwegian Ambassador to Myanmar Mrs Hilde Solbakken and party in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

During the meeting, they cordially discussed the preparation for the General Election to be successfully held on 8 November 2020 in accordance with the prescribed five criteria, preparation for preventive measures for the voters from the COVID-19, cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Sports to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedure in the campaign period and voting process.

They also discussed completion of advance voting for Myanmar citizens abroad, preparation for advanced local voters, voter education of the UEC on its Facebook page, cooperation with Myanmar Press Council and the Facebook Myanmar Team to prevent the spread of misinformation and electoral hate speech on social media, and the implementation of COVID-19 control and prevention for election observers.
