For those affected by the earthquake, Sayadaw U Ketumala and members of the Sangha from Wuntho Monastery in Myitkyina Township, Kachin State, donated 300 bags of rice (each containing 24 Pyi), and Sayadaw U Uttamasiri from Aung Zeya Yanaung Monastery donated a further 200 bags (each containing 24 Pyi), making a total of 500 rice bags.

The donation was made yesterday afternoon to the Department of Disaster Management (DMC) under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement. The donation was received by Dr Soe Win, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and Vice Chair (2) of the National Disaster Management Committee, who also presented certificates of appreciation to the respective donors.
