Deputy Minister for Science and Technology Dr Aung Zeya visited the Technological University (Meiktila) on the afternoon of 20 June. During the visit, he inspected ongoing repair works and instructed that rehabilitation efforts be carried out diligently in line with the directives.

Following this, the Deputy Minister toured buildings that had either not sustained damage or had only suffered minor impact from the recent Mandalay earthquake. He observed that training courses were continuing according to the academic calendar, with students attending regularly and engaging in practical exercises. He encouraged students to strive to become competent young engineers whom the nation and its people can truly rely on.

He also emphasized the importance of conducting practical research to support the development needs of local economic zones and MSMEs. He urged that modern technologies relevant to the current demands be applied effectively.

The Deputy Minister then proceeded to visit the University of Computer Studies (Meiktila), where he carried out inspections and issued necessary instructions. He observed that the university was conducting its training programmes according to the academic calendar. Students were attending regularly and actively practising in labs using computers. He warmly greeted the students and encouraged them to keep pace with the rapid developments in digital transformation and IT.

He further stressed that efforts be made to nurture highly capable and well-rounded young IT professionals who are both exceptional in their skills and able to contribute to the country’s development.
