The opening ceremony for the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) instructor training course and practical voting was held yesterday morning at the Homalin District Office meeting hall in Homalin Township, attended by Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw, officials from the Union Election Commission Office, the Minister for Ethnic Affairs of the region, departmental officials, and trainees.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister of the Region highlighted the advantages of using the MEVM; Union Election Commission member U Myint Thein outlined the plan for holding a multiparty democratic general election; and the Assistant Director of the UEC demonstrated how to use the MEVM.
Then, the Chief Minister and the attendees tested the voting process using the MEVM.
Afterwards, the Chief Minister of the Region delivered a speech at a ceremony where financial assistance, along with rice and oil, was provided to 585 temporarily displaced people in the Homalin District, including a monthly financial aid of K2,925,000.
The Regional Minister for Ethnic Affairs and officials distributed rice, cooking oil, and household utensils supplied by the Disaster Management Department to the temporarily displaced people.
The Chief Minister then met with the medical superintendent and staff at Homalin People’s Hospital, presented honorariums and food items to the staff, and provided nutritious food to residents undergoing medical treatment.
