PDF terrorists have been planting and detonating mines in towns, villages, wards, rural areas, roads, and bridges with the intent to instil fear among the public, disrupt the peaceful livelihoods of the public, obstruct transportation and the flow of goods, and create an atmosphere of terror.

In Pakokku Township of Magway Region, improvised mines were discovered yesterday on public roads used by residents. Acting on tip-offs from local people who oppose terrorism, security personnel conducted a search and found improvised mines planted along the roadside by PDF terrorists. These devices were safely dismantled and cleared in a systematic manner to prevent civilian casualties or injuries.

The public has strongly condemned these acts of terror deliberately targeting innocent people, and has rejected such violent actions outright. Therefore, security forces are stepping up necessary security operations to ensure the safety of the public.
