Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, along with officials, inspected Customs clearance operations at Yangon’s international ports, including Asia World Port, Hteedan Port, and Myanmar Industrial Port, yesterday afternoon.

He first met departmental officials from the Myanma Port Authority, Customs Department, Trade Department, Immigration Department, and Myanmar Police Force, as well as officials from Yangon’s international ports, at the Asia World Port Conference Hall.

During the meeting, Director-General U Thein Swe of the Customs Department explained the status of Customs inspection work at international ports, while representatives from various departments and international ports outlined their work status and needs.

The Union minister emphasized the importance of increasing exports for economic development, streamlining import and export processes, facilitating port services in line with the State Administration Council’s economic objectives, preventing the illegal trade of goods such as drugs, resolving administrative obstacles, and conducting systematic product inspections to ensure efficient and lawful trade operations. He agreed to coordinate the discussions with the relevant departments and organizations.

He inspected the combined inspection of goods at Asia World Port’s Container Freight Station (CFS) and the container inspections conducted using X-ray machines.

Port operations at Hteedan Port and Myanmar Industrial Port were also inspected, including joint goods inspections and container inspections using X-ray machines, followed by the Union Minister’s review and coordination of needs.
