Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pointed out that as slach and burn farming can deplete trees, it is necessary to reclaim highland farmlands.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, together with his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo and his wife, the Chief Minister of Shan State, and senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, inspected development undertakings in Loimwe region of Shan State (East) yesterday morning.
Arriving at the site of Kengtung-Loimwe road upgrade project being implemented by the Department of Highways (Shan State-East) of the Ministry of Construction, the Senior General heard reports on accomplishment of the guidance of the Senior General on his inspection tour of Loimwe region in February 2022, project matters, work process in relevant financial years, and future plans of the project by officials and gave guidance to systematically carry out long-term existence of Kengtung-Loimwe road.
He inspected solar-powered pumping process at Loimwe Lake to supply water to Loimwe region and lay pipelines of spring water. After hearing the reports of officials, the Senior General stressed the need to supply sufficient water to Kengtung and Loimwe regions. He pointed out that forests in the watershed area must not be cut but these must be conserved systematically. He continued that as slach and burn farming can deplete trees, it is necessary to reclaim highland farmlands. Moreover, he added that relevant experts and departmental officials need to inspect lay pipelines for supply of spring water to the people.
At the 107-year Station Hospital in Loimwe, the Senior General gave instructions to officials for upgrade of the hospital.
The Senior General and party proceeded to the 100-year historic house where they viewed the display of documentary photos on historic and significant venues in Loimwe. He inspected maintenance of the house and gave guidance to officials to repair utensils and other equipments in their original states in the house, and display necessary household furniture in the original state.
While in Loimwe hill station, the Senior General, his wife and party paid homage to Caturattha Sumangala Pagoda and made cash donations. The Senior General and his wife paid homage to the Buddha image in the Dhammayon of the pagoda.
They also paid obeisance to hilly missionary Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vepulla and donated alms. After going round the pagoda, the Senior General gave guidance on maintenance of the pagoda for long-term existence to officials.
