THE National Disaster Management Committee’s Vice-Chairs presided over the fourth coordination meeting of the Disaster Man- agement Centre yesterday.

 

Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, who is also First Vice-Chair of the National Disaster Management Commit- tee, said the resettlement and rehabilitation efforts are being carried out rapidly in the quake-stricken areas. The ministries concerned also reviewed the requests for container offices and houses prompt- ly. Temporary shelters have been constructed for the staff who are currently residing there comfortably. It also needs to construct the required number of temporary shelters. Moreover, it is also necessary to select locations and make proper arrangements to ensure water, electricity and sanitation.

Second Vice-Chair Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Soe Win then discussed the allocation of con- tainer offices, container houses and rehabilitation processes for the quake-victims and staff.
