Yangon-Mawlamyine-Yangon passenger trains No 81 Up and No 82 Down, which were temporarily halted in Bilin Township, Mon State, following an explosion, resumed service yesterday.
An insurgent group planted and detonated a landmine under Bridge No 65 on the Bago-Mawlamyine railway, damaging the structure and halting train operations on 6 May. The blast occurred under a 60-foot-long bridge located between Hninpale and Taungzun stations near milepost 112/10-11 in Bilin Township, Mon State.

Myanma Railways crews worked to restore the damaged bridge and track section as quickly as possible to resume normal operations. The bridge and railway repair work had been carried out day and night since 6 May and was completed yesterday. The railway section was reopened at 12:30 am yesterday after a test run with the RGC.

The railway section has been reopened, and the Yangon-Mawlamyine train No 81 Up departing from Yangon at 7 am yesterday morning and the Express train No 82 Down departing from Mawlamyine at 8 am are running as usual.

In addition, Myanma Railways, under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, is working to facilitate public travel by train on major railway sections, including Yangon-Mandalay, Yangon-Pyay, Yangon-Mawlamyine, and the Yangon Circular and Suburban Railways. Additionally, other routes, such as the Pathein-Hinthada-Kyangin section, Pyinmana-Taungdwingyi section, Yangon-Pyay-Bagan section, Myitkyina-Moekaung section, and Letpadan-Tharawaw section, are also operated.
