Ongoing rescue and rehabilitation operations are escalating in the earthquake-affected areas thanks to concerted efforts of Tatmadaw members, Myanmar Police Force members, firefighters, rescue teams from foreign countries, departmental personnel, social organizations and residents.
Yesterday, four senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) inspected the clearing of debris at collapsed religious buildings by volunteers in Sagaing, Amarapura, Chanayethazan and Singaing townships and on the Sagaing Hill
Lt-Gen Thet Pon from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) also oversaw the allocation of cash assistance K61.765 million for rice, construction materials and aid for the earthquake victims by the Department of Disaster Management, kitchen utensils by AHA Centre and personal goods by Brunei at the 700th Anniversary Gymnasium in Parami Ward of Sagaing. He presented gifts to the Malaysian medical team. He observed healthcare services provided by a Tatmadaw mobile medical team to quake-affected monks, nuns and people in Sagaing.
Lt-Gen Myo Moe Aung from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) presented relief supplies such as rice, cooking oil to 700 quake-affected families in BonOh Village of Amarapura Township. He inspected the supply of drinking water for the victims at the temporary relief camp.
Lt-Gen Soe Tint Naing from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) looked into the clearing of debris at the basic education primary school in Meintan Ward of Amarapura with the participation of teachers, town elders and Tatmadaw members and preparations for students to conveniently learn education at basic education schools in the 2025-26 academic year.
Lt-Gen Myo Thant Naing from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) inspected sales of construction materials to affected people in Singaing Township at fair prices and fulfilled the needs of people. He inspected the installation of the modular container houses where the temporary office of the Singaing Township General Administration Department will be opened and instructed officials to manage systematic arrangements for water, power and septic services. He also observed the issuance of citizenship scrutiny cards and household registration to the people at the township’s Immigration and Population Department. He also viewed around installation of modular container houses for the Township Land Records Department.
