Korea International Cooperation Agency-KOICA has supplied the consumer goods to internally displaced persons in Sittway, MraukU and Kyaukphyu districts in Rakhine State yesterday.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye, Deputy Minister U Soe Aung, Rakhine State Minister for Finance, Tax, Planning and Economy U Kyaw Aye Thein, Chief Coordinator of UEHRD Dr Aung Tun Thet, and MoSWRR Permanent Secretary, Directors-General and officials participated in the virtual donation ceremony.
The Union Minister expressed thanks to KOICA for donating hand sanitizers, mosquito nets, tarpaulin and masks worth about US$300,000.
Under the COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan, the ministry undertook the works of assistance for IDPs and vulnerable groups with the use of K30.446 million. Rakhine State government, in cooperation with relevant departments, will deliver the donation of KOICA to IDPs.
ROK Ambassador Mr Lee Sang-hwa expressed his delight at donating consumer goods including mosquito nets, tarpaulins, face masks and hand sanitizers for over 8,000 households in Rakhine State and said that the donation was made under ODA “Building Trust” Initiative.
The KOICA Chief Representative explained the purpose of the donation, and handed over the donated items to an MoSWRR official who returned certificate of honour.
