The Fire Services Department, along with local and international search and rescue teams, has been carrying out timely operations in the affected areas. To date, they have rescued 653 survivors trapped under collapsed buildings and recovered the bodies of 779 deceased individuals.
In support of those affected, generous donations of cash and supplies have been made by domestic philanthropists. International communities, organizations, and individual donors have also contributed monetary aid and relief items. Between 7 pm on 30 April and 5 pm on 1 May, at Yangon International Airport, relief supplies continued to arrive, including 1.342 tonnes of mosquito nets, dry noodles, and tarpaulin tents donated by the Myanmar Chinese Taipei Merchants Association. In addition, 3.1 tonnes of tarpaulin tents, ordered by Full Moon Services Ltd and donated for use by earthquake-affected staff of the Ministry of Commerce, were also delivered.
