AS of 29 April, a total of 3,798 people died, 5,106 were injured, and 106 remain missing in six regions and states of Myanmar that were severely affected by the powerful earthquake that struck on 28 March.

Search and rescue teams from the Myanmar Fire Brigade, along with local and international rescue organizations, have been carrying out emergency operations in the affected areas without delay. So far, 653 people have been rescued alive from collapsed buildings, and the bodies of 778 deceased persons have been recovered.

Both local donors and philanthropic individuals have been providing financial aid and relief supplies to those affected by the disaster. Similarly, foreign governments, international organizations, and charitable donors have been offering monetary and material assistance.

Between 7 pm on 28 April and 5 pm on 29 April, various forms of international assistance arrived at Yangon International Airport. Relief supplies from Malaysia-based Fo Guang Shani Bussha’s Light International Association Yayasan Sin Chew included towels, toothpaste, toothbrushes, blankets, mosquito nets, bedding, solar lanterns, and 3.918 tonnes of tarpaulin tents. The China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation and Development Promotion Association donated 2.185 tonnes of essential medicines. The Buddhist Tzu Chi Charity Foundation provided 5.547 tonnes of mosquito nets and bedding. The Serum Institute of India Pvt Ltd sent 0.49 tonne of Tetanus Diphtheria (TD) and Measles-Rubella vaccines. In addition, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) contributed 10 wooden crates of tarpaulin tents weighing 7.636 tonnes, along with a further 2.349 tonnes of tarpaulin tents.

It is reported that these relief items will swiftly be distributed to the affected communities to ensure timely support.
