THE Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) will make donations to flood-affected areas through the “helping-hand package” plan, according to the association’s statement.
MGMA’s CSR team is buying and collecting items such as rice, oil, salt, soap, dried fish, canned fish, beans, medicine, mosquito nets, blankets, pots, pans, dinner plates, bowls, and slippers to donate to flood-affected areas.
In addition, advance teams were sent to these areas to observe the current situation of the flood-affected people. Based on the need assessments of the flood-affected villages, phase (I) of the project has been started.
MGMA has made an initial allocation of K 100 million and preparations are being made to donate to 1,000 families in floodhit villages in Tatkon, Nay Pyi Taw.
They will also donate garments and various consumer goods to Toungoo, Yamethin, Inlay, Nyaungshwe and Kalaw, which were severely hit by floods, through communicating with local charity groups.
