AS a result of the flood that occurred on 11 September, aid and relief materials were provided to the flood-hit people in Pobbathiri Township, Zeyathiri District in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on 18 September.

Officials from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, along with the Department of Disaster Management, Nay Pyi Taw Council member U Min Oo, and officials and Uttara District Disaster Managemant Department, provided financial assistance of K1,800,000 for the six people who died due to flash floods in Pobbathiri Township. Additionally, K7,500,000 was allocated for construction materials for 75 houses that were destroyed entirely. Authorities also distributed emergency kits each containing 16 relief items, each worth K107,678, to 75 flood-stricken households. The National Disaster Management Committee announced on 18 September that the government will provide K500,000 from the National Disaster Management Fund and K300,000 from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement for a total of K800,000 per person who died due to natural disasters.

Similarly, according to the National Disaster Management Committee, the relevant regional and state governments will provide additional support. Additionally, it is planned to continue providing necessary assistance based on the condition of the injured and the extent of the damage to the houses.

Due to the subsequent heavy rains and floods caused by Typhoon Yagi, 56 townships in eight states and regions, including Nay Pyi Taw, were flooded, damaging roads, bridges, residences, office buildings, schools, and other infrastructure.

As of 18 September, 268 people had been killed, 47 were injured, and 88 were missing. The National Disaster Management Committee was established by the State Administration Council (SAC) with Notification 225/2023 on 6 November 2023 to anticipate natural disasters that may occur in the country, respond, and provide relief and assistance during such events.
