The Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) donated five portable X-ray machines worth US$ 175,000 to the Ministry of Health and Sports to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Myanmar.

One of the X-ray machines will be transported to Kyaukpyu Hospital in Rakhine State, and the remaining machines will be sent to COVID-19 Medical Centre in Phaunggyi and Kandawnadi Hospital in Mandalay.

MoHS said that it is hard to confirm the people infected with coronavirus depending on symptoms as 70 per cent of the positive patients showed no symptoms.
Therefore, if those who had contact with positive patients show no symptoms, their lungs are examined via chest with the portable X-ray machines so that further COVID-19 laboratory tests can be conducted.

After the first COVID-19 case was confirmed in Myanmar in March, the Republic of Korea (ROK)’s government, departments, companies, NGOs and people formed ‘Team Korea’ and donated test kits and personal protective items to MoHS via Korean Embassy in Myanmar.
