Ministry of Health and Sports held a coordination meeting on the update situation of COVID-19 yesterday, with emphasis on contact tracing to put the pandemic under control. Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe discussed the three major strategies of contact tracing, enforcement of treatments and systematic management in quarantine centres. He also called for public cooperation in disease control measures in health, politics, economic and social issues, and the important role of local governments in addressing the second wave of pandemic.

The Union Minister emphasized early contact tracing to prevent further transmission of the disease, while people need to strictly abide by the rules.

The ministry is also reviewing the periods for discharge from hospitals and quarantine centres, while the private hospitals have principally agreed to give medical treatments to the COVID-19 patients at their facilities.

He also discussed the important role of health workers, assistance of the ministry to them, temporary quarantine centres at the building and hotels, volunteers in Yangon and Rakhine regions. The Union Minister and senior health officials also exchanged views through videoconferencing on update situations of pandemic and other control measures.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
