The final match and awarding ceremony for the 2024 Inter-State & Region Sepak Takraw Championship was held at Wunna Theikdhi Gymnasium A in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
The State Administration Council members enjoyed the final matches played between the Mon State team and Rakhine State team for the women’s foursome competition and the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory Team versus the Mandalay Region team for the men’s foursome competition.
An awarding ceremony continued after the final match. State Administration Council Member U Yan Kyaw presented awards to the first-placed Bago Region team, second-placed Yangon Region team and third-placed Rakhine Region team for the women’s double event.
Next, State Administration Council Member U Shwe Kyein presented awards to the Mandalay Region team for first place, the Sagaing Region team for second place, and the Shan State team for third place in the men’s double event.
Likewise, State Administration Council member Khun San Lwin also gave prizes to the winners of the Mon State team, first-runners up Rakhine State team and second-runners up Kachin State team for the women’s triple event.
Next, State Administration Council Member Dr Ba Shwe presented awards to the winners of the Mandalay Region team, first runners-up Magway Region team and second runners-up Shan State team for the men’s triple event.
Meanwhile, State Administration Council Member Dr Hmu Thang also presented to the winner Rakhine State team, first runner-up Mon State team and second-runner-up Sagaing Region team. Also, State Administration Council Member Mahn Nyein Maung presented awards to the winner Mandalay Region, first runner-up Nay Pyi Taw team and second runner-up Kachin State team for the men’s foursome event.
Then, State Administration Council member Porel Aung Thein gave prizes to the men’s championship winner, the Mandalay Region team, and State Administration Council member Daw Dwe Bu presented awards to the women’s championship winner, the Rakhine State team.
With the aim of promoting the Sepak Takraw sports across Myanmar, the championship was held at Wunna Theikdhi Gymnasium A in Nay Pyi Taw from 23 to 31 May, participating 269 athletes from 15 men’s teams and 13 women’s teams.
