ACCORDING to Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, the Unity and Development Party, which wants to establish a political party in order to compete in the multiparty democratic general election, applied yesterday to the Union Election Commission for the right to establish a political party under the law and regulations.

To date, 16 parties have applied in accordance with Section 3 of the Political Parties Registration Law, and 50 parties have applied for the right to continue as political parties and registration under Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law, bringing the total to 66 parties.

Union Election Commission continues to verify the right to establish and register these parties.
