ACCORDING to the Department of Bridges under the Ministry of Construction, the toll fee for Thanlyin Bridge No 3, which connects Thakayta Township and Thanlyin Township in Yangon Region, will be collected through the Mobile Pay system using a QR code.

To ensure there is no delay in toll collection at the Toll Plaza on Thanlyin Bridge No 3, both human toll collectors and the Mobile Pay system will be used, according to the Department of Bridges.

This four-lane bridge has a total length of 8,638 feet and a width of 75 feet. It can bear a weight of up to 75 tonnes (vehicle plus goods).

Thanlyin Bridge No 1 was built in 1993. Due to the increasing number of vehicles passing through it daily, the Ministry of Construction began the construction of Thanlyin Bridge No 3 in 2019 with assistance from Japan, aiming to facilitate the flow of commodities.

Upon completion, the construction will alleviate traffic jams on Thanlyin Bridge No 1 and, with the increase in domestic and foreign businesses in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, the socio-economic lives of the residents of Thanlyin, Kyauktan, Kayan, and Thongwa townships, including Yangon, will improve.
