AS early monsoon is arriving soon, social relief associations have started making preparations to cooperate in rescue works for possible natural disasters, Shwe Myitta social welfare association chairperson Daw Shwe Lei told The Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM).
In early monsoon, vehicles may slide on the street, so the social welfare associations have prepared first-aid kits in order to provide helps in the nearest areas, she said.
“Why we have prepared for early monsoon is because lightning, heavy rain and strong wind may happen if there are cumulonimbus clouds. Cooperating in rescue works when it comes to happen natural disasters is one of the objectives of our social welfare associations, so we have prepared handsaw machines and ladders so that we can provide timely assistances when trees fall and roads are blocked,” she said.
Floods may happen in lower areas after rains, that is why they have made checks on tools that are used in carrying out relief and rescue works.
“Floods don’t happen all the time. Dirt and silt remain after water drops. So we have to clean up the dirty water by machines. So we have made tests in order to make them ready when rescue works are carried out,” she said.
