In April 2024, Ngwetaung Beach in Hainggyikyun Town, Ngaputaw Township, Ayeyawady Region, welcomed 48,955 domestic travellers, and the tourist numbers are on the rise, as reported by Daw Ni Ni Mar, an executive from the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association (Ngwetaung Beach).
Domestic travellers, particularly from Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw regions, visit Ngwetaung Beach annually, drawn by its proximity to Myat Mawtinsun Pagoda.
“During January, 35,455 domestic travellers visited Ngwetaung Beach, followed by 36,555 in February, 38,955 in March, and 48,955 in April. There’s a consistent increase in domestic tourist influx, with visitors throughout the year. The numbers surge monthly due to summer school breaks and the Thingyan festival,” Daw Ni Ni Mar explained.
Ngwetaung Beach offers a serene and secure getaway for beach enthusiasts. Services like bicycle and motorboat rentals, as well as horse riding, are available. Furthermore, market stalls have opened, offering local cuisine, accessories, and souvenirs for purchase.
