Chairperson U Aung Kyaw Oo of the Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation conducted an inspection of water distribution in four Dagon Myothit townships, as well as the electricity distribution and installation of more transformers on 4 May.

Currently, the country can only generate a half of the total power demand due to insufficient water in dams during the hot season. As a result, several townships in Yangon have been experiencing power cuts during scheduled electricity hours, leading to water shortages in April and May.

To address this issue, the corporation has planned to construct a 33/11 KV transformer at the 33 KV Chantha Shwepyi Sub-power station. During the inspection, the chairperson assessed the designated land plot for new transformers in Dagon Myothit (East) Township.

Subsequently, he examined the 66/11 KV, 20 MVA Sub-station-1 in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township, as well as water and power distribution at the Yuzana Garden City, and evaluated the prospects of the construction of more transformers.

At the electricity supplying manager’s office in Dagon Myothit (South) Township, the chairperson instructed officials to ensure accurate meter readings and minimize wastage.

Finally, he visited the 66 KV Konpadetha Sub-Power station in Dagon Myothit (North) Township, where he assessed power distribution, examined feeders’ capacity, identified potential fire hazards, and directed measures to minimize waste while ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
