MALICIOUS news media are spreading false information that nine men from two neighbourhoods in YeU, Sagaing Region, were arrested at their homes on the night of 29 April to serve in the military.

Regarding the news, an administrative official in the relevant township was contacted and informed that the people who are responsible for serving in the military are cooperating, that there is no use of threats, violence or coercion to serve in the military, and that they are only acting in accordance with the law on serving in the military.

Malicious news media and those who dislike community peace are spreading misinformation and fabricated stories about the implementation of the People’s Military Service Law in order to mislead the public.
