Law Amending the National Food Law (2024)

THE State Administration Council has enacted this Law under Section 419 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

1. This Law shall be called the Law Amending the National Food Law (2024).

2. Section 28 of the National Food Law shall be substituted as follows: -

"28. If anybody is sentenced for violating any provisions of Section 22,

(a) they shall be sentenced to imprisonment for ten years in maximum or shall also be sentenced to a fine ranging from K300,000 to K3 million for the food-related case mentioned in Sub-Sections (a), (b), (c), (d), (e), (f) or (g).

(b) if the food-related case concerning Sub-Section (h) or (i), the person shall be sentenced to one year's imprisonment or a fine of K500,000 or both.

(c) The court shall adopt the order to destroy the evidence related to the case or manage them under the prescribed rules."

3. Section 29 of the National Food Law shall be substituted as follows: -

"29. Anybody who is sentenced for a case violating the provisions mentioned in Section 23 and the individual shall be sentenced to imprisonment for ten years at maximum or a fine ranging from K1 million to K5 million. Moreover, the court shall adopt the order to destroy the evidence related to the case or manage them under the prescribed rules."

4. The wording "the fine from K100,000 in minimum to K300,000 in maximum" mentioned in Section 30 of the National Food Law shall be substituted with the wording "the fine from K300,000 in minimum to K3 million in maximum"; the wording "moreover, documents related to the case shall be confiscated as the public finance" with the wording "moreover, the court shall adopt order to destroy the evidence related to the case or manage them under the prescribed rules."

5. The wording "shall sentence three years' imprisonment or the fine ranging from K100,000 to K300,000 or both" mentioned in Section 31 of the National Food Law shall be substituted with the wording " shall impose a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment, along with fines ranging from K300,000 to K3 million".

I hereby sign this Law under Section 419 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
