Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, in his capacity as the Secretary (2) of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), received the donations for the committee yesterday afternoon.
Firstly, Excellent Fortune Foundation and Excellent Fortune Development Group CEO, Chairman and Founder Agga Maha Siri Sudhamma Manijotadhara U Sai Myo Win and his wife, Senior Vice-Chairman and Co-Founder Agga Maha Siri Sudhamma Singi Daw Nan Khin Myint Yi, Public Health Specialist Dr Kyi Tha of Asia Development Bank and President and Head Coach (Myanmar) Mr Girish Wadhwa of Mega Lifesciences Ltd briefed the aims of their donations. The Union Minister expressed thanks for the donation which will be used effectively to prevent transmission of the disease. He also said that the spread of COVID-19 in Sittway Township of Rakhine State makes hardships in health issues and the ministry makes concerted efforts to control the disease.
The ministry cooperates with the relevant ministries to conduct preventive and control measures in order to prevent the infected persons entering Rakhine State via illegal routes and to curb the spread of disease in other regions and states via Rakhine State, said the Union Minister, adding the donated PPE and ventilators will be mainly sent to Rakhine State.
Then, Agga Maha Siri Sudhamma Manijotadhara U Sai Myo Win and his wife, Agga Maha Siri Sudhamma Singi Daw Nang Khin Myint Yi presented K100 million in cash, 300 PPE, 300 N95 masks, 100 googles, 5 automatic socking machines, 250 pairs of socks while Asia Development Bank donated $1,177,690 worth of PPE.
Mega Lifesciences Ltd and its stuff handed over $143,750 worth of 5 ventilators, 5 patient monitor, 1 video laryngoscope for ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and Mega Lifesciences Ltd (Nutra Division) donated K2.64million worth of 3,500 bottles of Nat C.
The Union Minister and Deputy Minister Dr Mya Lay Sein received the donations and gave the certificates of honour in return.
