DURING inspections on 17 and 18 January, the combined teams seized an unregistered Toyota Hiace (approximately K7 million) at the checkpoint on the outskirts of Sagaing, an unregistered Toyota Wish (estimated value of K3.5 million) in Hinthada township and a total of 0.222 tonne of illegal teaks worth K146,916 in Kyangin township. These actions were taken under the Export and Import Law and the Forest Law.
On 18 January, the combined on-duty teams captured an unregistered Toyota Wish (approximately K10 million) in Magway township, a total of 16.617 tonnes of illegal teaks, 5.312 tonnes of illegal hardwoods and 4.686 tonnes of illegal other timbers valued at K14,001,520 in Toungoo district and nine kinds of goods worth K232,345,260 including 5,184 kilogrammes of Win Powder Wrapper roll that were submitted by owner to abandon from two containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port. The action was conducted under the Export and Import Law, the Forest Law and Customs procedures.
Six arrests were made on 17 and 18 January, with an estimated value of K266,993,696, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
