MYANMAR nationals stranded in the United States and in the Republic of Korea were repatriated by relief flight yesterday.

The Myanmar Airways International-MAI’s flight carrying 94 nationals stranded in the US and 30 in the ROK totalling 124 departed from ROK’s Seoul, and landed at the Yangon International Airport yesterday evening.

The relift flight was arranged by the Myanmar embassies in Washington and Seoul.

At the Yangon International Airport, officials of Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Ministry of Health and Sports and Yangon Region Government have provided them with arrangements for 21-day quarantine and medicial check-ups in efforts to prevent the coronavirus infection.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working in line with the directives from the National-Level Central Committee for Prevention, Control and Treatment on COVID-19 to bring back Myanmar nationals stranded abroad due to the suspension of international flights.

Myanmar embassy in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, has arranged a relief flight service on every Tuesday for Myanmar nationals stranded in the US and in other countries. As a special programme, the embassy has also arranged relife flight services in coordination with the Myanmar Embassy in Washington to bring back Myanmar nationals in the US, and so far, three flights have been operated to date.
