Deputy Minister for Construction Dr Kyaw Lin inspected the upgrading works between Yangon and Bo Myat Tun Bridge on Yangon-Pathein road on Saturday.

At the briefing hall of Mile 26/5 work site, Director (Civil) from Ayeyawady Region U Yan Naing Zaw reported on the upgrading works on the road section including improving bridges to four-lane bridges and installation of slope protection.

Bridge Department’s Director-General U Nay Aung Ye Myint detailed about the conditions of three routes to Pathien from Yangon.

Yangon-Pathien road No.1 is via Sarmalauk Junction; road No.2 is from the route of Kawhmu, Dedaye, Pyapon, Bogale, Mawgyun, and Wakema; and road No.3 is from Twantay, Maubin, Yehlegale, Shwelaung, and Kyungon.

After hearing the reports, the Deputy Minister said the road No.1 is being used, the road No.2 is expected to open soon, while the road No.3 construction is underway.
He also chose the designs of sheet piles for slop protection, and designs for road furniture and road safety work.

The Union Minister and party viewed the works of placing sheet piles into the soil near the Mile Post 30/3 on the road No.1.

The upgrading of 36-mile road section between Mile Post 5/4 and Mile Post 41/4 on Yangon-Pathein road No.1 to a 30-feet wide concrete road is 98 per cent complete. — MNA (Translated by Kyaw Zin Tun)
