DURING inspections on 11 and 12 December, the Customs on-duty teams managed by the Customs Department impounded 17 kinds of jewellery valued at K9.575 million, including 26 rings and 16 bead necklaces (supposed to be made of jade) without official documents, from luggage at the Mandalay International Airport, 34 kinds of goods worth K39.05 million, including 600 tubes of Gano Fresh toothpaste and 216 bottles of Gano instant café powder that were different from the items in the Import Declaration (ID), at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint and two kinds of goods worth K3.66 million, including 4,200 pieces of CHNT 250V 6KA breakers that were different from the items in ID, at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk). The action was taken under Customs procedures.

On 12 December, 6.822 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K238,770 were captured in Taikkyi township. The action was conducted under the Forest Law. Eleven arrests were made on 11 and 12 December, with an estimated value of K52,523,770, as reported by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.
