A delegation led by Mr Andrey Aleksandrovich Travnikov, Governor of Novosibirsk of the Russian Federation, paid a courtesy call on Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and State Security and Peace Commission Chairman Senior General Min Aung Hlaing yesterday morning.

Also present at the call were Commission Secretary and Joint Executive Chief General Ye Win Oo, Commission Member and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe, Union Ministers U Tin Oo Lwin, U Chit Swe, and Dr Chaw Chaw Sein, other officials, and the Governor of Novosibirsk, the Russian Ambassador to Myanmar, Mr Iskander Azizov, together with officials of the Novosibirsk Region Government.

During the call, the parties discussed and exchanged views on the enhancement of cooperation between Myanmar and the Novosibirsk region of the Russian Federation, the visit to Myanmar by the Governor and members of the Novosibirsk regional government, the observation of the country’s beauty, rich cultural traditions, and magnificence, the discussions with Myanmar government officials, the promotion of Myanmar’s cultural and natural attractions to Russian citizens, the implementation of the results of the bilateral discussions, and the directive from Russian President Vladimir Putin for the strengthening of cooperation between Myanmar and Novosibirsk region, and activities carried out by the Novosibirsk government.

They also discussed the matters pertaining to the prospects for the expansion of cooperation in various sectors, including the economy, education, health, cultural exchange, and tourism promotion between Myanmar and the Novosibirsk region, the prospects for the promotion of trade through the export of products between Myanmar, the Russian Federation, and the Novosibirsk region, the prospects for the sending of cultural groups between Myanmar and the Russian Federation, including the Novosibirsk region, the prospects for the further strengthening of friendship and cooperation between Myanmar, the Russian Federation, and the Novosibirsk region, the prospects for the further enhancement of bilateral cooperation, the prospects for ensuring a free and fair multi-party democratic general election in Myanmar and the continuation of the democratic path after the election, and the friendly exchange of views between the Russian Federation and the Novosibirsk region regarding their support for the upcoming multi-party democratic general elections in Myanmar.

At the end of the call, the Acting President and SSPC Chairman of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Governor of Novosibirsk Region exchanged gifts and posed for a group photo.
