A ceremony to open the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum in line with the theme: Connecting ASEAN through AI for Innovation of Digitalization and sharing the Future of Development was held at the Grand Metropark Hotel in Nanning, China, yesterday afternoon, and Prime Minister U Nyo Saw delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
The Forum Organizing Committee Secretary introduced the usage of the AI-applied glasses.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that the forum serves as a platform for leading business associations from China and ASEAN member states to exchange views and discuss economic issues. He added that with the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) now upgraded to Version 3.0, deeper cooperation can be carried out in new areas such as the digital economy, green economy, supply chain connectivity, competition, consumer protection, and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). As a result, he highlighted that China and ASEAN countries will be able to share and benefit from new opportunities for development through expanded collaboration.
He continued that as AI technology becomes increasingly applied across various sectors, it is necessary to take into account the risks of misuse and cybersecurity, and to ensure its fair use in appropriate fields. He expressed his firm belief that today’s China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum will further enhance trade and economic cooperation between China and ASEAN member states.
The Chairperson of the People’s Political Consultative Conference of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the Deputy Head of CCPIT, the ASEAN Secretary-General and the General Secretary of the ASEAN-China Centre delivered speeches, and the opening ceremony came to an end.
Also, present at the opening ceremony were Union Ministers Dr Charlie Than, U Chit Swe and Dr Thet Khaing Win, Myanmar Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China U Tin Maung Swe, and officials. Mr Sun Dawei, Chairperson of the People’s Political Consultative Conference of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, ASEAN Secretary-General Mr Kao Kim Hourn, the Deputy Head of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the General Secretary of ASEAN-China Centre, the presidents of chambers of commerce of China and ASEAN countries, businesspeople and officials.
