The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism will conduct inbound and outbound tourism surveys in over 30 townships across the country by 2025, as it is also a member of the Survey and Statistics Standards Working Committee.
These tourism surveys aim to identify the needs of tourists, develop plans, discover new tourist destinations, improve services, and explore and promote tourism markets.
Additionally, the surveys are expected to help increase the number of visitors to Myanmar’s tourist destinations and promote marine tourism. The Ministry is also working with relevant departments to identify cross-border convoy routes, develop new travel routes, and implement nature-based tourism activities.
The Ministry has released the Inbound Tourism Survey, the Domestic Tourism Pilot Study Survey, and the Outbound Tourism Pilot Study Survey.
An opening ceremony was held for the online training session launching the tourism survey and the first edition of the Inbound Tourism Survey at the Jade Hall of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism in Nay Pyi Taw on 31 July 2024.
