The 20th Asia Media Summit (AMS) was held on 23 July at the Sokha Siem Reap Resort and Convention Centre in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint and the delegation attended the event.
In the afternoon, the CEO Session was conducted, during which the “Angkor Declaration 2.0” was announced by Cambodia’s Minister of Information. The declaration emphasizes collaborative efforts in combating disinformation and fake news.
Following the session, the Chief Executive Officer of the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) presented commemorative gifts to attending Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
Later in the evening, the closing ceremony of the 20th AMS was held. Cambodia’s Minister of Information, Mr Neth Pheaktra, and AIBD CEO Ms Philomena Gnanapragasam handed over the certificate of hosting the 21st Asia Media Summit to Ms Heena Waleed, Spokesperson of the President’s Office of the Maldives, the next host country.
Maldives’ Deputy Minister Ms Aminath Namza expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host the next summit.
AIBD CEO Ms Philomena Gnanapragasam then presented a certificate of appreciation to Cambodia’s Information Minister for successfully hosting the event. The Minister delivered concluding remarks, thanking participants and organizers.
On 24 July, delegates from Asia-Pacific nations, accompanied by Myanmar’s Deputy Minister for Information, visited cultural heritage sites including Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, and Bayon Temples. A commemorative tree planting ceremony was also held in front of Angkor Wat, where Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint and his team planted a memorial tree to mark the 20th Asia Media Summit.
That evening, the deputy minister met Ms Philomena Gnanapragasam at the Sokha Siem Reap Resort Hotel. They discussed potential collaboration in offering broadcast technology training and co-hosting production and technical skill workshops for Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV).
