UNION Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and Mayor U Bo Htay inspected the construction site of the Myanmar-Korea Friendship Bridge (Dala) yesterday.
The Union minister and party heard the reports on the installation of Noise Barrier on each side of approach bridge along Phonegyi street on the Yangon side, completed installation of cables to connect with the main bridge at the junction point, ongoing work progress to carry out the final stage of bridge connection and observed the workplace in detail.
They also inspected the two ramp bridges and addressed the needs, and guided the work accordingly. The Union minister stated the need to complete the bridge in time, work together with the department concerned to ensure the safety of vessels while installing the segments and follow the road signs and directions set by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The Union minister travelled by boat to inspect the main bridge’s central pylon (Pylon-1) on the Dala side, reviewing the detailed construction progress, a toll plaza for revenue collection and maintenance work for the sustainability of the bridge.
The Friendship Bridge is under construction as per international standards and norms. Given its height of 160 feet and 998 feet in width to accommodate 15,000-tonne ocean vessels, ramp bridges and approaching bridges are being built to ensure a smooth and safe passage.
The Myanmar-Korea Friendship Bridge (Dala) will be completed soon, and once completed, it will facilitate the transportation from Yangon to Dala, Twantay, Kawhmu and Kungyangon of Yangon Region, from Dedaye to Pyapon, Bogale and other coastal regions in Ayeyawady Region.
