FOUR political parties presided over a peace talk under the motto of a temporary ceasefire to a durable peace at the Orchid Hotel in Yangon yesterday.

Executive Director U Thein Tun Oo of Thayninga Institute for Strategic Studies served as a Patron, and USDP Central Executive Member U Hla Thein, National Unity Party Vice-Chair U Thein Tun, National Political Alliances Vice-Chair U Kyaw Thu Aung and Union of Myanmar Federation of National Politics Party Chairman U Aye Lwin led the discussion.

The talks discussed the examples that were received via the negotiations after the natural disasters in international countries, the importance of the attitude and opinions of Tatmadaw, people and ethnic armed groups to ensure durable peace, stability to hold elections, accurate news to public by political parties and media to support Tatmadaw and other matters.

Participants also focused on the need for support from politicians who are well-versed in political issues, extension of the ceasefire, and finding a solution to political issues through the election, among others.

Officials from 12 Yangon-based political parties, including the USDP chairman, observers and media, attended the event.
