On 28 March 2025, Myanmar was struck by a powerful earthquake, which severely affected six regions and states. As of 7 April 2025, the death toll has reached 3,550, with 4,814 injured and 160 still missing.

The Myanmar Fire Brigade and search and rescue teams from both domestic and international sources have been carrying out timely rescue operations in the affected areas. Rescue teams have successfully located and saved 653 survivors trapped inside buildings, and have also recovered the bodies of 700 victims.

In addition, local and international donors have been providing financial aid and relief supplies to the affected population. On 7 April 2025, a total of 47.41 tonnes of relief materials arrived at Yangon International Airport and Nay Pyi Taw International Airport via five aircraft from China and Malaysia.

Efforts are ongoing to ensure that these supplies reach the affected people as quickly as possible, and relief operations continue to be coordinated to provide timely assistance to those in need.
