Myanmar Fire Brigade forces along with foreign firefighters are currently searching and rescue works for the victims who were affected and trapped in buildings due to the earthquake on 28 March. Foreign firefighters have also arrived in Nay Pyi Taw and will cooperate with the Myanmar Fire Brigade in search and rescue efforts.

On the last day, 238 firefighters carried out rescue operations in 53 locations in the Townships which are affected by the earthquake, saving 144 lives and removing 87 dead bodies from buildings. Yesterday, 160 forces carried out search and rescue operations in 13 locations in the Nay Pyi Taw Council area, removing seven dead bodies.

To continue the rescue operations in the earthquake-hit areas, search and rescue teams along with medical teams from India arrived in Nay Pyi Taw with two aircraft at noon and another two at 5:30 pm on 29 March, a total of four aircraft, and 78 fire personnel and rescue teams from Singapore arrived at Nay Pyi Taw to continue the search and rescue operations in the earthquake-hit buildings in Mandalay on 30 March.

The forces from the Central Fire Services Training School and PyinOoLwin Township Fire Station, along with the reserve fire brigade forces and other relevant organizations, have been working to rescue the victims who are trapped in the Sky Villa building in Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region, after the earthquake. Since the beginning of the earthquake, 43 people have been rescued alive and nine bodies have been recovered. Since the earthquake began, 284 fire brigade forces from the Central Fire Services Training School and PyinOoLwin, Meiktila, Magway, Ayeyawady and Yangon have been deployed for rescue operations with 13 fire trucks including search and rescue vehicles and supervised vehicles. On 30 March, fire brigade personnel and search and rescue teams from India and Singapore continued to search for victims who were trapped under the buildings.
