IN the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March 2025, Pakistan under the direction of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has sent humanitarian assistance for the earthquake victims.
The first flight carrying relief materials was received on 2 April 2025 at Yangon International Airport. It carried 35 tonnes of essential supplies including tents, tarpaulin sheets, blankets, meals ready to eat, medicines and water modules. Another flight carrying 35 tonnes of relief supplies will arrive in the next 48 hours.
Pakistani Ambassador Mr Imran Haider received the relief goods and handed them over to Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein. The mayor of Yangon and other senior officials were also present.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with State Administration Council Chairman and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on 31 March and extended heartfelt condolences on the tragic loss of lives and widespread destruction in Myanmar. Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif also offered support to Myanmar in relief efforts.
Pakistan stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this difficult time.
