A cargo flight from Moalem Aviation, carrying humanitarian aid and medical supplies donated by the World Health Organization (WHO) for the earthquake-affected people of Myanmar, arrived at Yangon International Airport from Kolkata Airport, India, yesterday evening.
The WHO has donated 148 packages of health supplies and medicines, weighing 34,588 kg, to earthquake-affected areas in Myanmar. Upon arrival in Yangon, the items were received by Deputy Director-General Dr Nanda Win of the Yangon Region Public Health and Medical Services Department, U Than Soe, Director of the Disaster Management Department under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, officials from the Transfer Control Team (Airport), and Dr Hyon Chon Pak, Administrative Officer of the WHO Office in Yangon.
The government is swiftly investigating the damage in earthquake-affected areas and carrying out timely relief efforts. Additionally, it has opened the way for humanitarian assistance from abroad.
