THE 15th regular session of the Second Amyotha Hluttaw convened its fifth-day meeting yesterday.

MP U Bwe Khein of Chin State constituency 3 asked if the high school building in Hmaungtalan Village, Thantlang Township, will be replaced with a new one in 2020-2021 financial year. Deputy Education Minister U Win Maw Tun replied it will be prioritized in that financial year.

Next, MP U Hla Myint (a) U Hla Myint Than of Mon State constituency 11 asked whether the middle school in Malawtchaung Village, Kyaikto Township, will be promoted to a branch high school. The Deputy Education Minister replied it has only been a year since the school was last promoted and is not in the prioritized list for 2020-2021 FY.

Next, MP U Hla Oo of Sagaing Region constituency 4 asked whether the branch high school of Ywarkyat Village, Ayadaw Township, will be promoted to a full high school. U Win Maw Tun replied there currently wasn’t as the school is only four years old and is permitted to teach high school subjects.

MP U Myint Naing of Rakhine State constituency 5 then asked whether the branch middle school of Leikma Village, post-primary school of Thinganat Village, and the middle school of Ywarmapyin Village, Kyauktaw Township, will receive new buildings in the 2020-2021 FY. The Deputy Minister answered the three buildings will be prioritized in that financial year’s capital fund proposals.

Next, U Htein Win of Ayeyawady Region constituency 4 asked whether the 600×400 feet sports ground, with a 400-meter track, currently under construction in Hinthada University can be turned into a football field with tracks that meet set standards. The Deputy Minister replied they have already made arrangements to amend the shortcomings and ensure the construction meets set standards.

Next, MP U Tun Tun Oo of Mandalay Region constituency 2 asked whether appropriate measures will be taken against telephone operator companies that are deducting credits for other services from prepaid credits of mobile phone users without their consent or knowledge.

Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Thar Oo replied that they have responded to and resolved all reports of similar incidents for 2019. He said the public can continue to report such acts to the Directorate of Communications and the Consumer Affairs Department and that these matters will be handled in accordance with existing laws.

Following this, the Deputy Minister submitted the Myanmar Communication Commission Bill to the assembly and Amyotha Hluttaw Bill Committee member U Thein Lwin read the committee’s report on that bill.

Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than then called for MPs interested in proposing amendments to the bill to register their names.

The sixth-day meeting of the Second Amyotha Hluttaw’s 15th regular session will be held on 11 February.
