Statement of the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on the 2020

Myanmar General Election

The Royal Embassy of Cambodia wishes to congratulate the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on the successful holding of the General Election on Sunday, 8 November 2020.

The observer team from the Royal Embassy of Cambodia conducted their observations at eight polling stations in six townships in Yangon Region and concluded that the General Election was free and fair. They also found that overall atmosphere inside and outside the polling stations was orderly and peaceful with a high turnout of voters. Additionally, the observer team also noted that the polling station officers complied properly with COVID-19 related measures by providing N95 masks, plastic shield masks and hand sanitizers to voters entering the polling stations.

The Royal Embassy of Cambodia to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar wishes to reiterate Cambodia’s support for the democratic process in Myanmar. It is our strong hope to see the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and her people continue their path toward peace, national unity, economic development and prosperity. Cambodia stands ready to further strengthen our long-standing relationship with the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
