UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, legal action is being pursued against illicit trading nationwide.

During inspections on 28 May, the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force confiscated an unregistered Daihatsu Mira truck (valued at approximately K3 million) in North Okkalapa township. This enforcement was conducted under the Export and Import Law.

On the same day, enforcement teams intercepted illegal timber weighing 16.645 tonnes (valued at K2.496 million) in Gwa township, Thandwe district. Additionally, four vehicles (worth approximately K130 million) were seized carrying 41 types of goods valued at K121.277 million, including 5,500 LED panel light bulbs without official documents, between Sinywagyi village and Kywalyegon village. Furthermore, a Nidi truck (estimated value of K25 million) transporting 1,232 gallons of illegal fuel oil valued at K15.116 million was apprehended at the Yadanabon Bridge (Mandalay) checkpoint. The action was carried out in accordance with Customs procedures and the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.

On 29 May, combined teams intercepted an unregistered Honda Insight (valued at approximately K8 million) at the Kantalu combined checkpoint in Sagaing township. This action was taken under the Export and Import Law.

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 14 arrests were made on 28 and 29 May, with an estimated total value of K304 million.
